Ben DePhillips: A Life Well-Lived in Point Pleasant Beach and Brick Township

Ben DePhillips, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away on July 7, 2023, at the age of 81. Born on July 9, 1941, in Newark, New Jersey, Ben spent over forty years living in Point Pleasant Beach before moving to Brick Township, where he resided for the past 16 years.

Throughout his life, Ben was dedicated to serving others. While raising his children in Point Pleasant Beach, he worked with the town's youth and later retired after 10 years of service with the Borough of Point Pleasant Beach. For 23 years, he also worked as a Commodity Tabulator for Reuters News Service in New York City.

Ben is survived by his loving wife, Doris; daughters Susan Braun (Ronald Tinao) and Kathleen Thomas; grandchildren Kristen Carone (Scott), Kelly Braun, Jillian Thomas (Robert), and Lindsey Fortney (Kevin); great-grandchildren Makenna, Harley, and Harper; siblings Robert (Mary), Timothy (Lori), Bruce (Elizabeth), Nancy Shaffer, Sue Wherry, and Cyndee Caporuscio; and siblings-in-law Cheryl Wherry and Peter Fitzpatrick (Diane).

Ben will be deeply missed by his family and friends. His legacy of love, kindness, and dedication to others will continue to inspire those who knew him.
